About 55 per cent of those polled say Canada was right to arrest Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou, whose detention is at the centre of escalating diplomatic tensions.
Meng was arrested at the request of the U.S. at YVR Airport in December.
Earlier this week, the U.S. formally requested requested extradition for Meng. It has charged Huawei, its subsidiaries, and Meng with 13 counts including fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice.
They are accused of lying to financial institutions in order to skirt sanctions against Iran.
China has demanded Meng’s release and has detained two Canadians and sentenced a third to death in apparent retaliation.
