VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Over the last four days, Elections Canada says more than 5.7 million people cast a ballot ahead of the Sept. 20 federal election.
There was an almost 20 per cent jump in advance voters between Friday and Monday, compared to the 2019 federal election. Elections Canada’s figure is an estimate, as some polls haven’t reported yet.
“I want to thank the electors who took advantage of advance polls for their patience and their help in making this a safe experience for everyone. I also want to thank the tens of thousands of election workers for making this possible,” Chief Electoral Officer Stéphane Perrault says.
“Canadians still have the opportunity to contribute to this great democratic exercise by voting on election day or by returning their special ballot before the September 20 deadline.”
Elections Canada says roughly 5.78 million Canadians cast a ballot in the advance polls, which were open from Friday to Monday. That's a 18.46 per cent increase from the the 2019 general election. This is an estimate because some polls haven't reported yet. @NEWS1130/@CityNewsVAN

If you are voting by mail, you have until 6 p.m. local time Tuesday to apply for a ballot. After that, you must use it — even if you change your mind. You can still take that ballot and submit it to a polling station in person, if you so choose.
