OTTAWA (NEWS 113) — As more Canadians get their first dose of the COVID vaccine, the federal government is now preparing for the country’s economic recovery.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland held a meeting with her provincial counterparts to discuss economic rebuild strategies in accordance with Budget 2021.
According to the release, Ottawa is looking to extend current business supports in place like the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, Lockdown Support and Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy — with the goal of reopening services in the future.
The feds are also reminding provincial and territorial finance ministers to use a Canada recovery hiring program, which provides small businesses the financial support to assist with the hiring process as they prepare for a future with fewer restrictions.
