VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A man that has been on the run from police since last May, has finally been arrested in Vancouver.
According to a news release from the Surrey RCMP, Dyllan Petrin was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Petrin was 19-years-old when he was arrested in connection to a kidnapping investigation in July of 2019.
He was released on bail the following February but was told he would have to be monitored electronically, via an ankle bracelet.
But a few months later, the bracelet was removed, and Petrin took off, sparking a Canada Wide Warrant.
Then, last July, Surrey Mounties discovered that Petrin was wanted in connection to the shooting of former B.C. gangster Cody Alexander Sleigh in Winnipeg.
Sleigh died days later of his injuries.
The release says police arrested Petrin after learning that he had been “hiding out” in Vancouver.
It says multiple departments helped in this arrest, including the Surrey RCMP Strike Force Target Team, Surrey RCMP High-Risk Target Team, Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team and Vancouver Police Department Emergency Response Team.
